As I sat down to watch the movie Kicking and Screaming, I was struck by the rawness and vulnerability of the characters. The film, directed by Noah Baumbach and released in 1995, tells the story of a group of recent college graduates trying to navigate their way through post-graduate life.
The storyline is an honest portrayal of the struggles that many young adults face when they leave the sheltered environment of college and are forced to confront the harsh realities of the real world. One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Grover, played by Josh Hamilton, has a conversation with his father about his future. This scene resonates with me because it’s something that so many young people can relate to. We all want to find our purpose in life, but it can be hard to figure out what that is.
